Simply Being

One of the most incredible sights in the whole universe is a child experiencing awe and wonder. Their tiny face is like a miniature constellation, all lit up and sparkly. They are fully absorbed and present to whatever captures their attention.
When was the LAST TIME you were so absorbed?
Simply Being our true nature in the moment.
We are all capable of this wondrous way of being where all thoughts fall away and we suddenly see something in all its beauty and magnificence. The mystery and true nature of life.
The Divine Mystery of Life.
Rupert Spira, in his book The Shining of Being points toward the knowledge that we are always aware of being:
"Being is always aware of itself."
How do we find this presence, the energy of life itself, in our own lives? Some things we are fully aware of and others not, for example we probably do not think about breathing , lung capacity or circulation unless they are pointed out (like now) or we are in pain.
Our spirit, our Being is even more subtle than any of those three body functions.
Another example suggested by Rupert is our understanding or awareness of space. The space around us, in our room. How we occupy this space daily and yet are not always aware of it. That's because we tend to focus elsewhere, on the floor, furniture or on what we are doing.
Yet back to the child, the one thing they are aware of is awe and wonder every moment. Syd Banks tell us; it is a gift we already have. Keep it simple, don't over create or make too much meaning of something.
“Look for simplicity, don’t try to figure it out”
Banks, Syd. Hawaiian Lectures (2) 2001
I had such an immense flooding of love from my toes to my head when I was learning about non duality, it was like a gently sweeping tide. Or the same awe and wonder of a child - present to what is in the NOW. It was a feeling I could not even begin to explain in words. A glimpse of something far greater than I had experienced in life so far. It was as though I disappeared(!) and I was just one huge universal mass of exquisite love energy. Syd Banks calls this
“The Great Nothingness” Ibid.
And BOOM it vanished as quickly as it came.
Nonetheless, having the sensation of simply BEING in that moment, altered my life forever. I now had an altered awareness of something greater and far beyond this self created person called Anni, beyond anything I could measure or contain. I had been given a glimpse of who I was, who we all are,
“. . . in the silent chambers of the soul.” Syd Banks Ibid
We are not our physical body, not this form or vessel, we are energy transformed into matter. In truth we are Divine Energy. The same energy as the universe, the stars, the planets and of all of nature. Redwings, caterpillars, maple trees, buttercups, grains of sand and the ocean. Isn’t that amazing?
When our thoughts quiet down or fall away and our experiences fade into the “Nothingness.” we can truly feel our Being.
Have you ever experienced this depth of pure love? Even fleetingly? One of my earliest memories is of searching through my first rock pool at the beach. It was teeming with creatures that wriggled, crawled, swam and patterns of water that I could change with a dip of my tiny hand. I was totally immersed. In this space there is no time, there is only BEING our true nature. I truly feel this oneness in nature and when I am having fun or when I Am in stillness.
Where do you most love to BE? Maybe this is a great place to begin to explore Being.
Expanding this simple awareness that that we are One being, one energy, a oneness of life, is something we cannot understand through our intellect, because as Syd says,
“The knowing is not of this world, it has been created before form.” Ibid
Hawaiian Lectures (2. The Oneness of Life.)
Letting go of made up interpretations , and becoming present to what is, allows all thought to momentarily fall away. Those that feel scary like fear, thoughts that judge, blame, and criticise also seem to disappear. They weren't ever really there in the first place. Even the comfortable descriptions of my world are meaningless
It feels blissful. Suggested there also isn't bliss
It is pure Love. Divine Love. Beyond any concept we create.
This knowing or understanding of this exquisite Love is discovered in the stillness and quiet of the day when we are not paying much attention to our thoughts. As I was in my rock pool. There is no resistance to what IS. Nor are we adding our own meaning to this life ; in full flow we no longer feel heavy or limited. We are less reactive and more open to noticing in the same way the young child did.
Simply being allows us to feel the TRUTH of life beyond the unconscious perceptions that hold us back and limit us because they are interpretations.
Truth is constant and never changing.
We are both the Divine formless and the Divine contained in this physical form.
We are free to choose to experience who we are without false perceptions and beliefs, through the gift of stillness we experience the spirit world behind our meaning - we begin to see differently .
In summary, it is our personal interpretation that innocently creates false meaning that can point us away from Truth, from Love and we begin searching for something outside us (a better home, car, job, relationship.) Until we consciously ‘know’ that we already are this LOVE.
Having an awareness of who we are in this world and of life itself, is different for every single human being on the planet. Therefore it must be fase, for if it was real - we would all respond or react in the same way.
You cannot really know this understanding through words you have to let go of the mind's preoccupation with past thoughts and see beyond the concepts we made up.
Syd says
“Life is a Divine mystery that can never be told, you have to go beyond the words, they can only express so much. The words are a guide.” Ibid
I never met Syd Banks although I have experienced a vast change in my Being because of his life changing experience.
Initially through Syd, then a course in miracles , Rupert Spira and non duality, I have come to know my BEING.
I live in the now as much as possible and I know when my thoughts see from yesterday or last year. Nor am I waiting for the future that does not exist. I understand more and more that we are born as love, love is our true nature. As we grow up into our family and into this world, we can choose to live consciously. Consequently not living our lives from a whole set of illusory assumptions, we are free to see the true nature of the whole of life, the sacredness, the infinite capacity for love. To simply BE.
