Healing Heartache

Updated: 4 days ago

The purest expression of yourself is the one that is most free, the one that makes you feel alive, fully immersed, and in effortless flow.

It begins with a willingness to explore what lies beyond the confines of the intellect—beyond the fleeting grasp of emotion or conditioned patterns. It begins by observing yourself, your habits, your rhythms, the unconscious movements that shape your days.

How do these words reach you? Are you sensing an openness, a curiosity? Do you feel drawn in, wondering what comes next? Or do you find resistance creeping in—a judgment of the topic, a sense of cynicism, uncertainty, or even frustration?

Returning to Your True Being

Your true self moves with ease—without fear, without resistance. It is the most alive, unconditionally loving part of you—the part that simply is. This is where healing begins.

Start by observing how you think, move, and respond throughout the day.

  • Notice when the mind tightens its grip—clinging to fear, resistance, or judgment. There’s no need to analyze; that’s the intellect stepping in. Instead, remain still. Simply observe, allowing patterns and assumptions to rise into awareness. Meet them with a soft smile.

  • No blame, no rejection. Just quiet noticing. This simple act can be a revelation—an unfolding awareness of the habits that shape your life.

  • If this process feels too heavy, pause. Step away. Drink tea, find a window, breathe in the view. Offer yourself kindness. Start again when you’re ready—even if only for half an hour a day.

This is the deepening of awareness—the recognition of long-held beliefs, the patterns absorbed over time. And with awareness comes choice—the freedom to step beyond conditioning and into something new, even when you feel deep despair and heartache.

There is a space of ease and stillness that exists before the construct of heartache or your perception of heartache. Are you willing to explore further? This space is absent of everything we know, it isn't cluttered with the details of the day, or lost in suffering. It's a space of NO - thing ( no sadness, no resistance, no emotions, no heartache, no objects, or subjects) it simply exists inside you. Your inner source of completely unconditional love.

Breathe it in slowly, be present to this love.

When we are in pain or suffering, we tend to focus there and we become caught up in a feedback loop of resistance. I know I was in this grief loop when my son transitioned. I became stuck in the depths of missing him.

Whe we are wounded by someone or something, our brain looks for similar feelings and experiences we had in the past, our imagination colludes with this sense of doom and sadness. Then we begin to create a story. What if we can see beyond this story because we are not this body, and so much more than this physical heartache. You can transcend these perceptions and beliefs, try this simple exercise to bring stillness and presence to your heartache:

TAKE THREE MINUTES & RECEIVE THREE GIFTS

  1. Take time, light a candle, or sit in the early twilight where life can slow down and you become aligned with this slower pace.

  2. Take a breath - gently slowly inhaling through your nose, pause and then exhale a long slow blow out from your mouth.

  3. Take a moment with one or both hands on your heart, this is your landing from the fight flight fright reaction to emotions. Listen to your breath being with the stillness.
